On OS X Tiger, I also have a lot of console emulators installed. SoftPC, Virtual PC v3, SoftWindows and a bunch of others. So far, Mini vMac and Fellow (Amiga emu), No$GB (Gameboy), QB8086 (PC emu), MZemu (MZ-700/800 emu), VGB (Gameboy).Įdit: Ironically I'm often running DOS on Macs (PPC). One third-party library example is Sparkle, which is used for auto-updating. The project leverages modern macOS technologies, such as Cocoa, Core Animation, and other third-party libraries. I'm also doing all my experiments on (a special) DOS mainly. OpenEmu is an open-source project whose purpose is to bring macOS game emulation into the realm of first-class citizenship. Marathon - Runs fine, mouse also works better This is an old emulator from around 2000, and it also runs in pure DOS. Since DOS is a single task OS, it feels much more like I'm using a "real" Mac OS So far this is my favorite 68K mac emulator simply because I can run it under pure DOS. Marathon - Runs fine, mouse also works better still sucks

Warcraft - Runs full speed, but CD audio is not working Blackthorne - Does not work, same error 14 I get from Basilisk II Prince of Persia 2- Runs full speed and almost with functional music (it's a bit slow at some points, but still a little better than on Basilisk II)

I used Dosbox to install the OS and copy the games, then copied the image to my retro machine. This is an old emulator from around 2000, and it also runs in pure DOS. Once you have a working disk image large enough to install other software on, you can access other install disk images from the 'Unix' icon on the Mac desktop which can access the file system of the Raspberry Pi. Tried running on an retro computer with MS-DOS, it's the easiest one to setup since you don't need any Mac OS installation and ROM.

Mini vMac emulates the 68K processor macs (older software) e.g. The other games didn't work.Blackthorne hangs up while loading and the other games crash to DOS Emulator, Rom Folder, Extension, BIOS, Controller Config. Prince of Persia 1 - Runs full speed and with sound It runs pretty well in general, but it was kind of a pain to set up.Įxecutor (not exactly an emulator but I had to try it): Marathon - Runs surprisingly well, but mouse twitches a lot (may be the KVM switch I use) Warcraft - Couldn't try since I was too lazy to make CD-ROM work

Prince of Persia 2 - Runs full speed, but music is slow for publishing new and unreleased games for retro computers and consoles. Prince of Persia 1 - Runs full speed with music and sound dragon 32 emulator, XRoar is a Dragon emulator for Linux, Unix, Mac OS X. At the current rate things are, it doesn't look like it'll be any time soon.I tried some emulators myself, here are the results: I guess all that remains to be seen is if somehow, someway, a Wineskin port could indeed be made for RASnes9x and RAGens. which I don't get why there are 2 executables in the first place. I also got RANes working perfectly fine now, I had to change the executable from the output directory to the root directory of RANes. Is there a way for the achievement pop-ups in the emulator to be smaller? The main reason is because of the achievement windows inside the emulator, they are WAAAAY too large.

I have no experience or expertise in programming.ĮDIT: I managed to get RAVBA working perfectly fine in Wineskin, but I can't figure out how to set custom resolutions like in RANes (I know there are settings to change size of the video and other stuff, but it's not as specific), or if it can be done at all the same way. I appreciate the response, but it's nothing I can really help in at all. I really hoped someone would know if there'd be anyone to reach out to someone about it. I'm no programmer, so none of that would really help me in the slightest. I'm a Mac user that would love to enjoy using Retro Achievements to its fullest capacity, and I hope that someone would be able to reply about this. I also wondered if anyone here would be willing to reach out to OpenEmu's community to pitch developing a Retro Achievements add-on to their multi-emulator software as well, it would be a huge benefit. Haven't tested RAGens, but a user verified that it has graphical glitching when he made his own port (can't remember if it was Wine, may have been). RASnes9x does not want to work at all in Wine, but it "sorta" works in CrossOver only it does not want to cooperate getting the Retro Achievements part to work in it.

I managed to make my own Wineskin port of RANes, but it sadly doesn't operate as the original Windows version would intend it to (no Super Mario Bros squish/swim sound effects when you load/start ROMs it does however show the achievements and operates like it should).

I know this has been mentioned briefly in some threads, but there isn't a fully dedicated Mac OS X thread for Retro Achievements.
